Cory Monzingo Foundation

The Cory Monzingo Foundation was established in 2014 as a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization to support the research for treatments and a cure for DSRCT. The Cory Monzingo Foundation provides funding to MD Anderson Cancer Center and may also provide funding to other nonprofit cancer research organizations.

“Cory inspired many people during his battle with DSRCT, and it is this inspiration that spawned the idea to create this foundation with the goal of someday having a cure for DSRCT.”
– Jeff Monzingo, Cory’s Father

What is DSRCT?

DSRCT is the acronym for Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor. DSRCT is classified as a soft tissue sarcoma. It is an aggressive and rare tumor that primarily occurs as masses in the abdomen. DSRCT is considered a childhood cancer that predominantly strikes boys and young adult males. The prognosis for DSRCT is very poor with a 5 year survival rate of 15%. Treatment options for DSRCT include surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Current therapies remain highly toxic and have not achieved complete disease control. The development of new treatments that could someday cure DSRCT is greatly needed.
